Character development is the foundation of a publicly funded education system. It is the cornerstone of a civil, just, and democratic
society, and the responsibility of parents, families, schools, and communities.
In our school system, the focus on character development includes programs and initiatives that support student engagement and youth empowerment, which includes building a student's capacity to learn and grow while contributing to a positive school climate.
School-sponsored character development initiatives help every student to strengthen their character, thereby becoming caring and contributing citizens vested with the tools to reach their full potential.
Character building attributes are identified as acceptance, caring, citizenship, courage, empathy, honesty, integrity, respect, responsibility, and trustworthiness.
