Why this show was written

Several factors all came together I a short time as inspiration to writing the show. My oldest son was crying and feeling sick about going to school, when I was able to get him to talk about it he admitted that the kids were (quote) being rough (end quote) with him. At the same time I was writing and essay for a psych. Course on bullying. I was reading articles written by Traci Valencourt on her study of bullying. It became clear to me through these circumstances the bullying is an issue that can affect anyone and that the best way to resolve this huge issue is to address it strongly in a way that people will pay attention too and remember.

Multiple characters are necessary in order even touch on the typical forms of bullying. Girls and boys use different methods to bully the people around them the costume changes make the differences clear. It also provides opportunities for characters to convey what they are realizing, things such as words hurt. Drops is a shy character while A.J. looks different and is unable to speak these kinds of differences make people easy targets and it is clearly illustrated through the show that different people can do amazing things and be great friends.

The Bullies in the show all resolve to be better people and make amends. It is done fast and made obvious with the intent of making it clear that it is possible to get past bullying, to change, and that it will make everyone happier.

The faculty volunteer is an important part of the show. Though their role in the show is brief it is among the most important.

It is them that will send the message that students can go to people they trust for help and that it will work. That the people they ask for help will listen and care enough to take action. After that, in the show, resolutions start to happen. It is the key turning point that allows the characters to become friends and to do the amazing skills that are performed in the show.

Acording to several scientific studies average reductions in bullying of up to 50% are seen in schools with an anti-bullying program. .
